Speaking of which, my friend from Christchurch, New Zealand, had the kindness to share this beautiful link with me about one of his Country’s greats where the written word is concerned. She truly impressed me so as to preserve the link for the purpose of wishing you a merry Christmas 2022.

Dame Edith Ngaio Marsh, according to Wikipedia was a most illustrious figure and as Bruce Porter, (Bruce G Porter on Facebook), said, a “posh”, user of the English language. 

“It’s the quite posh British accent which was prevalent back then amongst upper middle class New Zealanders of the time”

“Women back in those days especially from colonial pioneer stock were no nonsense young ladies”

“American women would have been similar in many ways”

“And British women too for that matter,  and it reflected in their speech, no time for small talk…”
